Developing Your Characters
Why is character development important?
Because for a reader to connect to your characters they have to feel like they know them. They don’t have to necessarily have to like them, but they have to at least find likeable things about them.
It's important to avoid one-dimensional characters; Dudley-Do-Right and Dick Tracy are cartoon, not real characters. Remember, in real-life no one is all good, and no one is all bad.
If a character is well developed, the reader will understand their motivations and care what will happen to him or her, whether the reader likes the character or not. Why? Because the reader has CONNECTED to the character. And if that isn't your goal, it should be!
In this 2 1/2 hour seminar you'll be taught:
How to Get to Know Your Character
How to Make Readers Connect with Your Character
Why You Should Avoid the Eleventh Hour Surprise
The Importance of Relaying Character Motivation
